The problem
You have paid for a software upgrade and now stare at a long string of letters and digits from a receipt email, unsure where it goes. Some programs want a second installer, some want you to sign in, and a few ask you to wipe your settings. With a finance app, the last thing you want is to risk your data just to switch on a feature.
Burrow Pro is not a separate program. It is the same Burrow app you already installed, unlocked by a license key from Gumroad, so activation happens inside the app and nothing is reinstalled or moved. This guide covers where to find the key, where to paste it, what the one online check involves and what to do when the activation count runs out. The steps are for the Windows 10 and 11 installs of Burrow.
Steps
Find the license key
Copy the key from your Gumroad receipt email or from your Gumroad library. It belongs to the edition you bought: Standard, Family or Founding.
Open the License settings
In Burrow, open Settings > License. This is the same app you have been using, so your budget and journal are already there.
Paste the key
Paste the key into the License key field. Copy it straight from the receipt or your Gumroad library so that the whole key is selected.
Click Activate
Click Activate (contacts Gumroad once). The label is literal: Burrow contacts Gumroad a single time, sending only your key and the product id. Gumroad sees your IP address, as any website would.
Confirm that Pro features are on
Once active, the Pro features are available: asking Javi about your data, approving the changes it proposes, daily briefings and Explain on the Patterns card. Burrow does not check the key again after this.
Keep the key safe for a new PC
Each key has a limited number of activations. If you later move to a new PC and run out, email burrowsupport@gmail.com to ask for a reset.
Which edition you have, and what it means
Standard is $49 one time for one person, with 1 year of updates and 3 activations. Family is $79 one time for up to 5 people in the same household, with 1 year of updates and 10 activations. Founding is $99 one time and is available until January 5, 2027; it adds a second year of updates, a purple-and-gold founder background and a Founding member badge.
All three are single payments and nothing renews. Pro keeps working forever in every version released inside your update window, so a lapse in updates never turns a feature off in a version you already have.
Trying before you buy
Every new install starts with 14 days of Pro, with no card and no account. When the trial ends, only the Pro features switch off and all of your data stays. You can activate a key at any point, before or after, to keep Pro going. If you change your mind within 30 days of buying, a full refund is available, no questions asked.
